Among its benefits, this system eliminates human error and the reduction of overall workloads (MORR, 2023). It also saves money in the long run as this system can bring about increased yield of higher quality crops while reducing waste of water and nutrients. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has a ‘30 by 30’ goal, “which aims to build up the capability and capacity of our Agri-food industry to produce 30 percent of our nutritional needs by 2030”. (Singapore Government Singapore Food Agency, n.d.) According to the SFA, the key to achieving this goal is through the use of technology that allows Singapore to “increase its production output with existing resources”. With several benefits, the automatic nutrient dosing system is capable of increasing production output with existing resources, thus playing a key role in achieving the ‘30 by 30’ goal.
